What lies beneath? What does the surface strive so hard to conceal or contain? Would It Make You Feel Less Lonely? Is a collection of fragments evoking the space of a bathroom. Standing as excised portions of walls, the sculptures make visible the systems that sustain and irrigate them. Where does the water come from, and where does it go?

System Failing Apparatus Method is the result of Master’s research conducted at Work.Master under the supervision of Christophe Kihm. The work functions as a hybrid device, oscillating between the rigor of a technical manual and the layered complexity of a roadmap.

Nontiscordardime makes an infrastucture emerge. During my visit to the gallery, I learned that beneath the art space flows, channeled, the Flon river. The only trace, very discreet, of this now-secret passage, are two holes on the floor connected to the river’s ventilation. At night, perhaps, when no one is watching, the pipes also re-emerge, circulate, touch, move things, and at the first ray of light or the first glance, they slide back down.

A constellation of memories, as well as fragmented images from a personal past that have materialized in the form of sculptural objects. They are situated between direct materiality and metaphor. Forms inhabited by voices that whisper, mislead and seduce, this objects are deceitful storytellers.

In describing his artistic practice, Laurent Fiorentino uses the term ‘bittersweet narrative’, which recalls Anne Carson’s reflections inspired by a short line from Sappho: ‘Eros struck me and overpowered me, / this bittersweet and ever victorious creature’1. The ancient poet – as Carson emphasizes – was the first to use the epithet ‘glycpicron’ in relation to the experience of love, indicating the simultaneous feeling of pleasure and pain

Creatures, similar to marine tumours, float in tanks with opaque water. These mineral monsters move at a regular rhythm, a breath comes out of their orifices, a respiration.

In his artworks he explores the depiction of intimacy, navigating the tension between the visible and the obfuscated. His practice is deeply rooted in the domestic sphere, where the notion of the secret, and its inherent inaccessibility, infuses his work with a whispering narrative quality. His current research focuses on the domestic bathroom and the hidden infrastructure that sustains it. Positioned between public self-regulation and private release, the bathroom emerges as a crossroad for individual development, household dynamics and urban policies.
After growing up in Naples, he moved to Switzerland to study photography at ECAL, subsequently working as a watch and studio photographer in Vevey. His practice has since evolved toward sculpture and installation. Since 2020, he has been experimenting with ceramics, a medium he now interrogates in relation to industrial sanitary production. His installations often incorporate concealed pumps and motors to generate autonomous movements or water circuits. While materiality plays a pivotal role in his production, metal has recently become a crucial element alongside ceramic, reinforcing the industrial aesthetic of his work.
